DAY 1: ONGUMA GAME RESERVE
Arrive at the Windhoek International Airport, clear customs and immigrations and continue through to the arrivals hall. Meet your Rupert Africa transfer representative and transfer to the Windhoek Eros Airport. Meet your pilot and commence on your light aircraft flight to the Etosha National Park. Approximately a 1-hour 30 minutes’ flight. From the Mokuti airstrip, you will be transferred to Onguma Tented Camp where you will be accommodated for the next two nights.
DAY 2: ONGUMA GAME RESERVE
After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy a guided drive into the Etosha National Park for a full day of game viewing.
DAY 3: TWYFELFONTEIN
After breakfast at leisure meet your pilot and commence on your flight to Damaraland where you land at noon. Approximately a 1 hour 20 minutes’ flight. Lunch is followed by siesta and an afternoon excursion to the ancient rock engravings of Twyfelfontein. Return to the camp for sundown’s and dinner.
DAY 4: TWYFELFONTEIN
Enjoy a morning nature drive in search of the desert elephant and the elusive black rhino that are resident in this area.
DAY 5: TIRAS MOUNTAINS
After breakfast, your charter flight will commence towards the coastal town of Swakopmund. A 1-hour flight. Upon arrival at the Swakopmund Airport, a transfer representative of Naturefriend Safaris will transfer you into Swakopmund for lunch. After lunch transfer back to the Swakopmund Airport, meet your pilot and commence on your flight to the Sonop, nestled on the Southern edge of the Namibian desert in the Karas region. A further 1-hour flight.
DAY 6: TIRAS MOUNTAINS
06h30: From Sonop head south to the Fish-River Canyon. Stopover for a breakfast and view of the Canyon (north-western edge). From here, fly like a bird over the Canyon for a while and head North-west to Lüderitzbucht. Visit Kolmanskuppe ghost town and enjoy a seafood lunch followed by a city tour of this historic village. Departure from Lüderitz is in the afternoon. Fly along the coastline to Spencer Bay. Observe the Otavi shipwreck before flying north along the coast to Sylvia Hill and the “Lange Wand”. Turn inland and circle over the impressive Sossusvlei dunes before heading home. Pending weather conditions, an alternative route will be chosen at the pilot’s discretion. Excursion time: whole day, arriving late afternoon. Total time in the air is about 4.5 hours.
DAY 7: TIRAS MOUNTAINS
Absorb the unique landscape at any time of the day. Explore the desert by foot, electric bike, or horseback, accompanied by our experienced guides who will provide unique insights on the local wildlife. Night walks are also available upon request.
DAY 8: END OF ITINERARY
Awake in the pristine desert dawn and soak in the atmosphere and landscape from your bed whilst enjoying early morning tea. After breakfast at leisure, you are transferred to the airstrip to bid Sonop farewell and commence your return flight to Windhoek International Airport in time for your outbound flight. Approximately a 1 hour 15 minutes’ flight.
